Say Goodbye To New Year's Resolutions

Here's how to make 2026 yours.

We all have good intentions to better ourselves and New Year's provides a great opportunity for this. But how often have you looked back in reflection and even remember what your goals were?!

Here's how to change all that and actually achieve those goals.

Decisions, Decisions

Decide on your specific goals and focus on progress over perfection. There will be times when you go backwards, or something unexpected crops up. That's why seeing things over time is more helpful and encouraging.

Specific goals might include: simplifying life, financial savings, a holiday, social connections, fitness goals.

Little by Little

Create shorter cycles. Check in on your progress at the end of every week and every month. Don't wait until December to realise you never got there, only to set the same goals the follow year. Shorter cycles create more action and more urgency.

Tools of the Trade

Use a visual aid such as a planner, journal or notebook using words, tables, graphs or pictures - whatever appeals and will encourage you with your goals. This will also help you to look back on your progress.

Celebrate the Wins

It's important to be flexible, but when things are on track, celebrate and acknowledge the progress. It will also show you what's working and perhaps what didn't work so well.

Stop waiting for that one time a year to set your goals. Begin now and watch yourself grow!
